This year’s London Design Festival was a busy time for Makers. In total, there were nine products on display at the Festival which Makers has helped our clients to develop. A year ago, we were researching the Makers service offering and asking independent designers what practical help they need.
So it was gratifying to see the results on exhibition stands and in shop windows all over London. It makes me wonder how far we can stretch our services by this time next year: after following-up with new contacts which we made at the festival, it looks like we’ll be producing goods for overseas designers pretty soon too.
Anyway, here’s a gallery of images from the Makers stand at 100% Futures in Earl’s Court.

Makers is holding our first group exhibition of clients’ new designs at 100% Futures between 22 and 25 September 2011 at the Earl’s Court exhibition centre in West London.
100% Futures is the new designers’ part of the world-famous 100% Design exhibition, which has been held at Earl’s Court for many years. It forms the centre piece of the London Design Festival and in many ways gave rise to the city-wide festival of design events that has been the high point of the UK design year since 2004.
Makers has been working with groupDesign, Milton & Mees and Tetsu to develop new designs and prototype ideas into market-ready products which are ready to launch into the market this month. It’s an exciting time for everyone; the culmination of many months work by lots of people. The new furniture and lighting products will be on display to try and they are ready to buy.
Come and meet Makers staff and the designers from groupDesign, Milton & Mees and Tetsu, at Stand X94. We’ll be on-hand to talk about the designs, the development process and how to purchase them. If you have a product of your own which you are interested in bringing into the market, come and have a chat. See you there!
Manufacture & Industry, a brilliant blog about making products in the UK, has profiled groupDesign, one of Makers’ clients. Click here to read the article. The blog does a good job of capturing Richard Wells and Jeremy Schotte’s approach to design and their refreshing attitude. You can see groupDesign’s Planar shelves on the Makers stand at 100% Futures from 22-25 September 2011 at the Earl’s Court exhibition centre in west London.
